On a clear, cool night beneath a cloudless sky, Keith sat back, turned to view his companion's profile. Smiling shyly, he admired how lovely she looked in the starlight. When she shifted, sensing his gaze upon her, his eyes dropped to his hands resting on the lap blanket they shared.
"Everything alright, Keith?" Allura asked quietly. "You don't seem yourself tonight."
"Hmmm? Oh, I'm fine, Princess. Are you enjoying the sleigh ride so far?"
"Yes, very much. You said you often did this back on Earth?"
"Not me personally, but yes, it's a popular cold weather activity," he responded, avoiding her eyes. Looking up to the starry sky, he took in the constellations that now seemed almost as familiar to him as those he grew up with.
"You miss Earth, don't you?" she asked gently, following his gaze, looking for whatever drew his attention.
He turned back to her, a wry smile curving his lips. Catching her eyes for a moment, he sought something within her bright blue gaze. Shaking his head slowly, he looked away again, leaving her straining to hear his words when he finally spoke. "Not as much as you'd think," he whispered, fingers worrying the blanket covering his knees.
Allura blinked slowly, confused by his answer and the demeanor so different from his normal confidence. Her mouth opened, but before she could say anything, he spoke again. "It turns out that there is something here that is much more attractive than anything Earth could offer," he added, his voice deepening, his eyes searching hers once more. Keith moved closer, erasing most of the space separating them, stopping when his thigh contacted hers. He swallowed, bit his lip gently. "You see, I've met someone and the more I get to know her, the more I want to get to know her... The more I want her to get to know me."
She sat silently, caught in the spell his words wove around her heart. Cheeks burning, breath coming in ragged gasps, Allura leaned closer to him. Keith moved in to meet her, his lips nearly touching hers when a shout interrupted the moment.
They moved apart quickly, heads turning to seek out the source of the call. Pidge skidded to a halt near the slow moving sleigh, panting lightly, catching his breath in the cool night air.
"What's going on?" Keith demanded, all traces of romance gone.
"Coran got run over by a reindeer!" Pidge repeated. Before his words faded, Keith and Allura leapt from the vehicle, gathered Pidge in their wake and raced towards the castle. They arrived to find the castle diplomat sitting on the ground, head in his hands.
"What happened?" Allura asked, dropping to her knees beside Coran.
"I'm fine, Princess. Apparently a horse got spooked when Hunk tried to tie antlers to its head. I simply didn't see it coming."
Keith sighed, taking in the disarray surrounding him. "Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to bring Christmas to Arus after all..."

"Oh Keith, this is beautiful...!" Allura approached and cocked her head at the gilded vehicle on rails. "What is it?"
"It's a sleigh," Keith replied with a smile. "I know you enjoy the ways we celebrate Christmas on Earth, so I thought you might like to try an old Holiday tradition."
Allura nodded firmly. "Yes, I'd love to! What are we going to do?"
"It's called a Sleigh Ride. I think you'll like it." Keith smiled and helped Allura into of the carriage. She watched him circle the pair of beasts hitched to it. They snorted lightly as he assumed his own seat and took the reigns. Allura studied them for a long moment.
"Are those deer...?"
"They're Reindeer."
"I take it they live where the weather is less than ideal, then."
Keith gave her a slight smile but said nothing. He paused to tug a thick blanket in place over their laps, then urged the reindeer into a brisk walk.
"They're also known as caribou, and it's not necessarily rainy where they come from," he said.
"Oh," she replied, color creeping into her cheeks. Keith didn't tease her about her mistake, much to her relief. She settled back to enjoy the ride.
The sun was setting when they began, and the glowing ember sky soon gave way to a velvet evening full of starlight. She nudged closer to her driver as they traveled across the snowy landscape. Keith glanced her way and smiled. She smiled back. Suddenly, to her surprise, he leaned in close and stole a quick kiss from her lips. She felt her belly flutter, like she'd suddenly been jolted awake from a dream.
Or maybe not. Keith abruptly jerked away from her and made the reindeer stop. Then he leaped off the sleigh. Allura leaned out over her side, craning her neck after him.
"What happened?" She called out.
"We hit something. It felt solid. Might have been a animal of some kind."
"Oh, no...!" Allura hopped off the sleigh to follow him. As she came even, she blinked in surprise at the figure lying sprawled in the snow. She helped Keith load the injured party into the carriage, then they headed back to the Castle posthaste.

"So let me get this straight," Lance said as he sipped his coffee. "Nanny suspected there'd be shenanigans going on when you took Allura for the sleigh ride, and she sent Coran out to spy on you? How'd he even know you were headed out that way?"
"He knew which trail we had to use for the sleigh," Keith replied. "He was setting up a hiding place when we happened by. Tiny little snow fort, we didn't even see him."
Lance was all teeth. "You know what this means, right?"
Keith shook his head at first, then he abruptly glared at Lance. "Don't you dare say it...!"
"Coran got run over by a reindeer..."
Keith punched Lance in the arm and continued punching until Allura made him stop.

Throwing a baleful glance at the starlight-speckled sky outside, Sven stalked into his office and sat at his desk, thumbing open the video channel as he did so.
"God Helg, Sven," Lance said, with a wide smile.
Cursing, Sven offered his friend a rude hand gesture. "Dammit Lance, haven't you figured out the time difference yet? You dragged me out of bed just to greet?!"
"And I'll bet your bed was nice and warm too," Lance responded with a lascivious smile. "But I actually do have official business to take up with you. I'm looking for a sanctuary for some political refugees."
"Drule? You don't have to ask." Sven yawned.
"Arus actually." Lance responded with a laugh. "They're fleeing the wrath of a vengeful Prince Consort."
"Prince Consort... Keith?" Sven asked. There was not enough coffee in the world to deal with Lance's antics this late at night. Or early morning. He couldn't quite tell. And come to think of it, he hadn't had any coffee yet either.
"One and the same," Lance grinned. "Anyway, Hunk and Pidge decided that they wanted to give the kids in the orphanage a taste of a Terran Christmas. They got a Santa suit, found a sleigh somewhere and imported a herd of reindeer. I really don't know how they got it past customs, but they managed. And well, they decided to build hover packs for the reindeer and connect the controls to sleigh - which is now a hovercraft too, by the way!"
Sven gawked at his friend, trying to decide if he was awake or asleep.
Lance chuckled at his friend's confusion. "It actually worked out pretty well! You know how Allura makes a big to-do about the gift-giving ceremony every year, right? Well, so there we are, at the orphanage, all decked out in our Christmas best. The Princess makes her traditional speech and announces the arrival of a special visitor from Terra."
"Which is when Hunk makes his grand entrance, I suppose," Sven commented.
"With bells and whistles on," Lance continued. "He wired the sleigh for sound and put a sleigh-bell track on repeat. Then he parks next to the podium where Keith and Allura are waiting to receive him and starts with his act. But Allura starts wheezing and sneezing and startles the reindeer. They bolt and knock Coran into a snowbank."
Sven bit back a laugh. "Coran got run over by a reindeer?"
"Yeah. He's okay- he landed in a snowbank. We did have to rush the Princess to Doctor Gorma though. She'll be fine, but she's going to have to spend Christmas under observation in Medical because of her anaphylactic reaction to the reindeer dander."
"Which is why Keith is livid," Sven nods.
"He had plans. It's their first Christmas together, you know," Lance smirked and waggled his eyebrows. "Anyway, could you offer asylum to the reindeer? If you don't, I'm going to have to go to Nanny and ask her to find recipes for reindeer stew."

"You should have gone with the others," Keith said in the stables that snowy morning as they waited for their sleigh ride.
Allura fought the urge to kiss his brow. "I didn't want you to be alone," she said. "Besides there's still time for Christmas shopping."
Fixing his red and white scarf, he sighed. "You shouldn't worry about me."
"Keith," Allura urged quietly. "We need to talk about what is bothering you."
He didn't seem to hear her. He glanced sadly at the snowflakes that had been falling since the night before. He couldn't burden her with his family secret. He loved her too much for that. He had to leave Arus… and soon.
"I can't."
Her mouth tightened. "Why?"
"You wouldn't understand."
Allura ached to be held by him, to feel his arms around her. She had lost everyone she had ever loved. She didn't want to lose him too.
Reaching out, she touched his face, forcing him to look at her. "Help me understand."
The rider dressed as Santa Claus stopped before them. Keith helped the princess up into the sleigh, and then sat down beside her, stretching his arm out along the back of the seat. He wasn't quite touching her, but she felt the strength and warmth of him just the same.
"Hey," she whispered to his ear. "We will face this problem together."
Keith lowered his arm, letting it rest tightly around her shoulders. "You might not say that if you knew the truth," he said with half a smile. But there was sadness there too.
"Who says I don't?" she countered softly. "My beloved wolf."
He stared at her. She knew the wolf and him were one in the same!
Keith searched her face, hardly able to believe she could love a creature like him.
"Princess, please," he said brokenly.
"Hush," she said, covering his mouth with a hand. "Not here."
Closing his eyes, he nuzzled his face against her cheek, stroking her skin with his whiskers. Allura smiled at the purely wolf action.
They finally left the castle behind, entering the forest. The snow came down harder, the wind grew colder, and the wolves howled in canine celebration. Their brother had found its mate.
An hour later or so, they returned to the Castle of Lions. Keith sat up very straight, waving in a stiff-handed way as the rest of Voltron Force called amused greetings from the stables.
Allura had a wonderful time. Something had finally changed between her and Keith that left her with a feeling both festive and frightening.
She thrust her gloved hands in her pockets of her coat and waited until the boys entered the castle.
"The observation room."
Pulling his jacket collar up a little higher, he squinted at her. "Excuse me?"
"I will see you there after everyone has gone to bed," she said, looking up at him.
Keith answered with a slight nod, watching as snowflakes landed on Allura's hair and on her long eyelashes.

Keith stood against the rail of the observation room and stared at the mountains. In the moonlight they were white ghosts along the horizon. He watched and wondered if his pack was there.
The scent of peach drifted across his nostrils and he stilled, his sense warning him of her presence. He turned, and leaned back.
Allura stared at him, her heart in her eyes. "Hi."
Keith held out his hand to her, needing to touch her. Would she fight or flee? Retreat or surrender?
She crossed to his side without hesitation. She touched his face with trembling fingers, traced every line, the curve of his mouth, his dark eyebrows and his shadowed jaw.
"Do you know what I am?"
"The wolf that visited me a few nights ago."
He winced. "Do you find me repulsive?"
"No." She leaned forward and kissed him. "Please, tell me your story."
"I'm a werewolf. My father was a werewolf and my mother a human. Like my father and those before him, it is our duty to fight against evil, to give peace and banish suffering. Becoming a space explorer was part of the big plan."
Allura stared at the starlight in his eyes. This man whose kisses she craved, whose arms she wish to keep around her forever, this officer whom she knew beyond doubt that she loved... was a werewolf.
As a child she had heard legends of lions falling in love with princesses. Now she wondered if they had a kernel of truth.
"Like you, I'm a creation of God who created humans and all things in the universe. I have honor and pride. I have a mind, a heart and a soul. And I love you, Allura."
"And I love you. How could you keep this secret for so long?"
He lifted her hands to his mouth and kissed her palms. "I didn't turn into a werewolf... until I met you."
"I?" she croaked, then cleared her throat. "I awakened the wolf?"
"The change occurs when the subject meets his mate."
"I see."
He inhaled sharply. "You're frightened."
"No." Allura bit her lower lip before speaking further. "Well, maybe a little." She smiled nervously. There was so much she wanted to know. Was he immortal? Could he control the wolf? Could he turn her into a wolf? What about children?
He answered her questions patiently, and noticed the blush on her cheeks when she learned the only way to control his nature was to make love to him before the next full moon.
"Well, Princess." He said softly. "Will you be my true mate?"
They gazed at each other for a long moment, and then Allura threw herself into his arms. "Yes."
Keith framed her face between his hands and bent his head to kiss her. "Thank you."
"Thank Goodness Lotor hasn't attacked us during a full moon. Hey, there's a wolf flying Black Lion." She giggled softly. "Coran would have a fit!"
A bark of laughter erupted from Keith.
The scent of peach drifted across his nostrils and he stilled, his sense warning him of her presence. He turned, and leaned back.
Allura stared at him, her heart in her eyes. "Hi."

Keith grinned openly at Allura's antics. She glanced up and smiled back at him. His heart warmed at the sight of her, wolf pups climbing all over her lap. She looked so beautiful. He loved his mate deeply. Maybe he had from the moment he had looked up and saw her standing at the top of the stairs of the old castle. Their union had been blessed with a son and heir, and soon they would have a second child, a daughter. The last four years had been the happiest he had ever known.
"Come play with us."
"We must leave the den soon, honey," he warned. "The moon is rising."
She turned and gazed at him. "Oops, I lost track of time."
The female wolf resting inside the den growled.
"Come." Keith offered Allura a hand up. "We'll have to run to make it back to the castle and welcome our friends."
After placing the pups inside the den with their mother, Allura was gone. Keith leapt after her, reaching for her waist, but her body was changing as she sprang away. Sleek golden fur now covered her skin.
Smiling, Keith followed her, his body stretching and contorting into the shape of a wolf. The female wolf glanced back, and then was gone, running lightly thoroughly the forest.
Allura's cry echoed in the night, calling out to him. Keith responded at the whisper of seduction, a streak of black fur silently stalking his prey.
Finding her playing in a soft bed of pine needles, he circled her, watching her every moment. Allura moved closer to him so that he could touch her with his muzzle. They looked at one another and then began to run together. The sounds of their labor breathing echoed around them, and soon began the serenade from the wolves gathered on the distant mountains.
Louder and louder the howls echoed around them, until they heard a man screaming.
"Keith!" Allura cried in his mind.
A white wolf came charging through the trees. The animal curled its lips and growled.
Instantly, Keith thrust the princess behind him, fixing his gaze on the beast. Whining softly, it eyed the Alpha for a moment, then turned and ran down the hill, its tail between its legs.
In the blink of the eye Keith was gathering the crumpled figure lying on the snow. Allura was soon beside him. It seems Coran got run over by a reindeer, he thought wryly. The animal probably got scared, broke out from the corral and Coran was on its way.
Minutes later, Royal guards gathered around, shouts for help filled the air. The Lions roared above them and their former teammates pushed and shoved to help, discovering their friend badly hurt.
Days passed as they waited for news regarding the condition of the Royal Advisor, while their spouses and their children remained in the Castle of Lions.

Coran finally regained consciousness to see a concerned Allura leaning over him, her eyes filled with tears.
"Princess," murmured. Her features slowly came into focus.
"Thank God. Doctor Gorma kept telling us you were getting better, but for some reason or other we couldn't see you."
Keith joined them and asked Coran what he was doing in the forest. He was following a report about a werewolf tracking rare Arusian reindeers as prey.
"Werewolves do not exist," he said firmly. Coran didn't need to know that Allura was married to one.
"Commander," he coughed. "Arusians believe in werewolves and werelions, and they would tell you so. Where do you think His Highness got the idea for the Voltron Lions?"
Keith glanced at Allura and sighed. "Do you remember what happened?"
Confusion clouded the older man's eyes. "I decided to check on the reindeer you got for Christmas, and brought carrots. They are like candy to reindeers, you know?"
Keith nodded. "Continue."
"Well, I had just fed it and decided to look around for any wolf tracks. The snowpack was quite high and soon I was out of breath…"
"Then what?" Allura said curiously.
"I heard a howl, and reached for my gun only to realize that I had left it. The howls became closer and I tried to run faster, when suddenly…"
"What?" Keith said urgently.
"I was plowed over by that damned reindeer!"
"Oh, Coran," Allura said, squeezing his hand in sympathy.
He glanced at her. "Don't tell Doctor Gorma, but I have nightmares about the incident. In my nightmare a huge black wolf turns into a man and carries me off." He rubbed a hand over his face. "And that man was you, Keith. You appeared out of nowhere to rescue me. Can you explain that?"
He smiled wolfishly. "Doctor Gorma said you sustain no permanent injuries. Perhaps it's the shock?"
Coran nodded stiffly. "However, my pride will never be the same."
"Good," princess said, sitting up right. "Then you will not mind if I have a good laugh at your expense?"
The door opened as Keith stood behind Allura. Coran sat up with a scowl to watch Lance, Hunk, Pidge and Sven trying not to laugh.
Allura glanced at Keith. "Can I say it?"
He smiled. "Of course."
"Coran got run over by a reindeer!" she cried, bursting into a fit of giggles. The space explorers laughed out loud. Princess has certainly embraced Terran pop culture.
He scowled deeply. "I'm not amused."
"Don't worry," Pidge said. "We caught the reindeer. Its life of crime is over."
"Doctor Gorma is releasing you this afternoon," Sven said with a hint of a smile.
"Too bad you can't play Santa this time," Hunk chuckled. "So I'll do it."
"And Nanny assured Doc you would be well taken care of," Lance said with a smirk. "Look forward to her sponge baths."
Coran shuddered visibly. He didn't know which thing was worse, Keith possibly being a werewolf or Nanny playing nurse.

It was a little get together for the team, appetizers and beverages, a main entree and dessert. My contribution was a fine brandy that mixed well with the beverages we'd been served.
By the time I noticed Coran was drinking the spiked egg nog, it was too late to warn him.
By his expression, I'd say he knew it was laced and didn't care.
So he was blowing off steam. With Nanny out with the flu, he'd taken over planning for the annual winter party held for the orphans of the war. It had a Santa Claus theme, based on lessons from the cultural studies class the kids took to learn about sweet Mother Earth.
I'd never taken Coran for a micro-manager, but he'd been obsessing over details to the point that staff was starting to avoid him.
"Hunk! A moment please?"
Uh oh. Had I been staring? "Sure thing, Coran. What's up?"
He enunciates each word in the manner of someone fighting a buzz."This party should be one the children will always remember. Santa has reindeer to pull his sleigh. We have a sleigh, no reindeer. This is a problem."
"Before she got sick, Nanny told me she'd made costumes to wear...antlers and everything."
"Unacceptable." Coran said. "The real thing is needed."
"Nice thought, but unless you can conjure some, Arus doesn't have reindeer."
"True. But by the Earth calendars, it's Christmas Eve, and tonight a visitor comes who can help us."
"If you mean Santa...heh, you do understand that he's...well..."
"You're going to say there's no such thing. It takes a believer to ask him to borrow a reindeer or two." He waves a hand. "You're out of the running."
Man. He must have had more to drink than I thought. Still, I'm disappointed. I mean, I've seen Hagar's evil magic. Why couldn't I believe in Santa's good magic? "You believe he's real."
"I've been studying him diligently. There's a scientific explanation based in physics for how he travels. Spiritually, he's the personification of giving. All he asks is for those he assists to pass it on."
"Sounds like you're a true believer." I say. "So maybe you're the man for the job."
He looks surprised, then thoughtful. "Perhaps I am."
No way he's tramping out into the woods at this hour. He's pulling my leg. "You've been working hard. It'll be a great party."
"It will be, yes."
I don't like the smile he has; a cross between reckless determination and exuberance usually achieved through consuming alcohol. "You're kidding right? That nog had alcohol, so if you're thinking of going for a walk outside...just don't. Please."
He grins. "I'm in full command of my faculties."
He excuses himself before I can ask who he wants in reindeer costumes and exits the dining room.
I suppose I'd better tell the Captain. I'd never live down Coran getting run over by a reindeer.

"Man, I had the strangest dream last night," Lance spoke while crossing the dining hall to where a huge urn was filled with steaming coffee. After pouring a cup, he took a seat at the table and began to serve himself breakfast, repeating his announcement when no one responded. "I said, I had the weirdest dream last night!"
"Oh yeah?" Hunk's curiosity won. "I'll bite. What was your dream about?"
"Coran got run over by a reindeer."
Pidge perked up. "A reindeer? As in one of Santa's reindeer?"
Allura tilted her head to the side in a thoughtful manner. "We do have a species of native reindeer here on Arus."
Lance nodded to acknowledge the Princess, but his reply was meant for Pidge. "That's the one! Complete with jingle bells and a jolly old guy, all dressed in red, driving the sleigh."
Hunk grinned. "You've been drinking too much egg-nog."
"Maybe," Lance's admission came with a chuckle. "But it seemed so real...the goose was on the table, and the pudding made of fig-"
"Hold on...in this dream of yours," Keith seemed on the verge of remembering something important. "Were we all watching football, playing cards, and drinking beer with Sven-"
"-and my cousin Romelle," Allura's exclamation interrupted the Captain of the Voltron Force with what seemed an almost-memory.
"Wait a minute..." Hunk's tone was suspicious. "I remember something about some guy in a sleigh that was full of elves."
"Did we all have the same dream?" Lance asked.
"Maybe some sort of mass hallucination from the Arusian liquor in the egg-nog?" Keith offered.
"You're all overlooking the obvious," Pidge added. When everyone turned their attention to the youth, he offered his conclusion. "It wasn't a dream."
"So, you're saying it was real?" Hunk sounded incredulous.
"You can say there's no such thing as Santa, but as for me and Bandor, we believe." Pidge sounded so certain that the group of space explorers looked around at one another and considered the possibility before deciding the strange coincidences couldn't be reality.
Just then, the door opened and in walked Coran - which of course, halted the conversation.
Until...
"Um, Coran...?" Lance's voice shook a bit.
"Yes?"
Keith asked the question on all their minds. "What happened to you?"
"Oh, this?" The Royal Advisor touched the reddened hoof print in the middle of his forehead. "I'm not sure, but I had the strangest dream last night..."

At every opportunity, Hunk had spent the past few weeks locked away in his private workshop, working on something he called "super top secret" and he refused to tell anyone the details...well almost anyone.
Lance was one of the few people that did know what Hunk was building, and he now stood outside that very workshop. After a glance over his shoulder to ensure no one was watching, he gave the door a series of three quick raps, and then waited.
"Who is it?" Hunk's voice was gruff.
"Me. Open up."
"What's the password?"
"Password?" Lance huffed. "Geez Hunk, you know it's me just open the door."
"Nope."
"Come on, this is ridiculous." When the only response was silence, Lance finally gave in. "Quiznak, bring a snack, Hunk will let you in the back."
"Did you bring a snack?"
"No," Lance sighed and leaned his head against the door, but almost instantly perked up as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a bag of peanuts. "Wait! Yes!!"
The door flew open and Lance found himself ushered inside. Once the bag of peanuts had been handed over, Hunk grinned.
"So, what do you think?"
"I'm impressed," Lance made his way around the metal creation and let out a low whistle. "It really does look like Santa's sleigh."
"It's almost finished," Hunk beamed with pride. "I need to make a few tweaks to the remote, put a red light on the lead reindeer's nose, and loop the recording of Santa saying 'Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas!' and it'll be done."
"Anything I can do to help?"
"Can you gather Pidge and the local kids in front of the castle in, let's say, fifteen minutes?"
"Will do!" Lance offered Hunk a snappy salute before hurrying away.

Under Shiro's watchful eye, the local children, along with Pidge, were making s'mores over a bonfire when suddenly the sound of tinkling bells could be heard overhead! With joyful shouts of excitement, the group began to point at a shadow over the moon!
"It's Santa!!" Pidge's eyes were wide with wonder as she watched the sleigh and it‘s nine tiny reindeer cross the sky!
Coran, Lance, Keith, and Princess Allura all stood nearby. They watched the scene and their hearts filled with the deepest warmth.
A movement at the edge of his line of sight caught Lance's attention, and he turned to find Hunk staring up at the sky, mouth agape.
"I don't know why you look so surprised," Lance made his way to where Hunk stood. "You did a fantastic job!"
"But..." Hunk continued to look baffled and pointed at the remote control for his sleigh. "Look."
Lance looked down; it took a minute for his mind to process what he was seeing. "How can that be?"
"I never turned it on-"
"That means-"
Both Hunk and Lance looked up into the night sky, as Hunk whispered.
"That's the real Santa!"

Allura pulled in a deep breath, enjoying the way the night air was scented by flowers and freshly tilled dirt. It was summertime on Arus, the days both hot and humid, but tonight, the temperature had dropped and the evening breeze felt both cool and refreshing. The Princess let out a deep sigh, lifting her arms high above her head in a bone-cracking stretch. From behind, she heard the swish of the door and turned to greet the newcomer.
"It's a beautiful night," she seated herself in a nearby chair. "Would you like to join me?"
"I don't want to intrude on your time alone, Princess."
"Sometimes I do come out here for solitude, but tonight I came to do a little stargazing." She watched silently while Keith crossed the terrace. He came to a stop at the guard rail where he leaned out to admire the view.
After a moment, he turned to face her, smiling warmly. "The sky is so clear, you picked the right night."
Allura returned his smile and made her way to his side. She leaned her forearms against the railing and looked up at the inky expanse.
"There's going to be a meteor shower tonight, we should start seeing shooting-there look!" She pointed up at a bright streak making its way across the sky. "Do you see it, Keith? It's so beautiful!"
"Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have this wish I wish tonight."
"What a sweet little poem!" Allura turned to smile up at Keith. "Did you make it up just now?"
"No, it's a Terran nursery rhyme I learned as a child," he looked back out at the night before returning his gaze to hers. "There's a tradition on Terra; when you see a shooting star you're supposed to make a wish."
"Oh? And what did you wish for, Captain?"
"I can't tell you that," he grinned mischievously. "If I tell, my wish won't come true."
"There must be something I can do to get you to tell me your most secret wish," she leaned in close and spoke softly. "What if I said please?"
"Princess, I don't think-"
"You don't think...what? That I know what your secret wish is?" One hand curled around the back of his neck, the other caressed his cheek.
"Allura, this isn't a good-" His protest ended when she traced the curve of his lip with her thumb.
"Keith?"
When his only response was a guttural sound, she pulled his head down and softly touched her lips to his. What was meant to be a tender exchange ignited a bright flame and they found themselves breathlessly staring into one another's eyes.
"I guess wishes really do come true," Keith whispered against Allura's lips before reclaiming them with his own in what could only be called an earth shattering kiss.
