This tryst had trouble written all over it. Keith wouldn't have considered it if he weren't the Captain and trying to hide his desperation. No one had any idea what he was going to do...and neither did he, if Allura didn't show.
The metal portal to the arena creaked open. He winced as a pink clad figure appeared and hailed him cheerfully before the door clanged shut behind her. So much for this being a quiet affair. Not her fault- she had no idea that this wasn't a run of the mill meeting. Or that if she agreed, they would be embroiled in an affair that could end really badly for them both.
She was waiting for him to approach; he took strides forward, made an abrupt stop before her so not to shower her with residual moisture. "Princess! There's not much time-" Nervousness held words in his throat. He tried again. "Not proper to ask now, probably crazy, but you're the only one I'd want to-"
"Yes."
He stood with his mouth open, blinking. Her bearing was grace personified, her frame slender and yet strong as she hopped over the boards, removing her skate guards as she went. "But I didn't finish-"
"Hunk already told me he pulled a muscle and can't play in goal. As his emergency backup, I've been practicing!"
Well damn. She was ahead of the game. "There's risks-"
Her snort still sounded regal. "Like that will stop me! As my Captain, you know surrendering isn't in either of our vocabularies-even if I'm not the best, with me in there, at least you don't have to forfeit!" She winked. "It'll be fine, you'll see. With all that padding, a stocking cap and a goalie mask on, no one will know that it's me!"
"You ready for pucks coming at you at ninety miles an hour?"
"Yes! But I also wouldn't mind you boys putting your protective instincts to good use!"
With that, she smiled into his eyes, patted his cheek, grabbed the goalie stick out of his unresistant hands, and then skated at an impressive speed towards the net at the other end of the ice.
Keith felt his face getting hot, and tried not to think what that gorgeous smile might look like with a couple of front teeth missing.
No shots on goal for the other team if he had anything to say about it.
And he did.

She entered the solarium, a place of bright light and tranquility, now cloaked in the navy blue mantle of night. Standing to one side of the wall of windows, she listened for movement as pinpoints of light winked at her through the reinforced glass, seeming to give complicit approval to her mission.
After a moment, she cautiously moved forward with feather light steps, memory serving her as well as her eyes in avoiding collisions with a sofa and various groupings of chairs.
Her vision adjusted, and she finally detected a man shaped shadow seated in a corner. Speaking in a soft, low voice she recited the precautionary ritual honed by many such meetings.
"Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move-"
She stopped and waited. Her answer came, spoken in a deep, husky baritone.
"Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love."
She smiled. "Hamlet 2.2," she acknowledged, and swiftly moved forward with barely contained excitement. After several miscues and disappointments, what she had waited for was only seconds from being in her hands.
The man rose from the chair to tower over her as she stopped in front of him and took the work roughed hands he extended to her. "Princess! At last!"
She beamed up at him. "I can't believe we finally connected, Hunk."
He chuckled, and shook his shaggy head. "Me either. You sure you weren't followed?"
"Positive! No one will be looking in on me for at least an hour. You?"
"No problem. The guys think I'm putting some old engine together."
She blinked up at him, the adoration in her voice mirroring her gaze. "You're so wonderful to humor me."
His chest swelled with pride, and his grin was wide and white. "My pleasure, Princess....you know I'd do anything for ya." He released her hands to reach inside his vest. When his hand appeared again, it was holding a book.
He held it out, and she took it into her hands with wide eyed wonder. Though the cover illustration was shadowed, the book jacket's shiny white lettering shone in the darkness.
"A Tryst to Remember." Allura read softly. "Is it really? Was it worth your time and trouble?"
"Oh yeah." Hunk assured her. "It's a must read!"

"Princess, I will be yours and you will be mine. We need one another. You make me remember what living is. I fell in love with you the first time I saw you. Please, promise me you will come this evening. I’ll be waiting."
Allura folded the latest missive from her secret admirer. She had been receiving several letters asking for a meeting, ever since the incident of Hagar’s blue cat and its magic dagger.
She would like to hear these words from Keith... it feels good to be loved and admired by a man, he seems to be sincere.
It couldn’t be Pidge, he’s just a teenager. What about Hunk? He’s a sweetheart but doesn’t like writing mushy stuff. Lance? Well, he would certainly write these things to get a girl.
Allura couldn’t stand the suspense any longer and left the castle. The letters always included a map of the exact location. She found the old manor and opened the front door that was unlocked.
She strode down the candlelit hallways. She came to a dead stop outside the door to the salon. A candlelit shadow at the chimney caught her attention. She realized it was a man’s silhouette. Something in his manner caught her interest.
"Keith?" she said into the silence, even though she knew very well that the towering figure who turned at her voice couldn’t possibly be the commander of the Voltron Force. "Keith?" she repeated, entering the room, "is that you?"
"No, thank the evil gods!"
And the door slammed behind them.
"Lotor!"
A wry smile twisted his mouth. "Good evening, Allura."
She caught her breath as he brought his hand to her face. "You’re lovely." Then, reaching casually for her arm, he said, "Have you tried Drule wine?"
"Of course not!"
"Really?"
"Yes, really," she said, her lips tightening.
Before she knew it, the prince was sliding his arm around her shoulders. Allura lifted her gaze reluctantly to his face. Chatoyant eyes. Heavy white eyebrows, a full lower lip. There was no softness in his features, only strong angles and ruthless elegance.
She swallowed convulsively. Was she falling in love with this man?
"I want to go back."
"To your friends? Your obligations? You’re much safer in my care."
"I belong to myself, I’m a person, not something you can own."
"I want you to be my wife. I would never hurt you." His mouth found the corner of hers, and a jolt of electricity crossed her body.
"Lotor..."
He rubbed his face against her hair. "Let me love you. I want to be in you, part of you."
"We can’t do this," she gasped, fighting the urge to kiss him and wrap her arms around his neck.
A hint of tenderness crept into the gold of his eyes. "Oh, I think we can. Why do you think I ask you for this midnight tryst?"

It'd been a hellish day. Lion practice, hand to hand combat lessons, then straight to his watch. Long hours, high stress - it left him exhausted, yet unable to sleep. Which was why, in the dead of night, Hunk was headed for the kitchen.
'Nothing like a hot cup of milk with a little honey and a shot of whiskey to put a man out.'
He was turning into the hallway that lead to the kitchen when he felt the prickling sensation along his neck, warning him of impending danger. Quickly, he stepped back, allowing the shadows to mask his presence.
It was mere seconds before she appeared, Hunk watching in silence as Allura hurried past. The Princess made her way across the room, slipping out a door that lead to the castle's gardens.
'What the…?'
No time to consider, he fell in behind, careful to keep hidden, staying just far enough away to be sure she didn't realize he followed. But she was fast - he nearly lost her when she pushed her way through a slim space between two hedges - if the moon hadn't peeked out, illuminating her pink jumpsuit, he might have missed her!
For such a large man, he moved with a cat's grace, his steps silent and sure. Unfortunately, if he tried to push his way through those same bushes, he'd make too much noise. As swiftly as possible, Hunk made his way around the hedgerow. He was just in time to glimpse Allura surreptitiously peeking over her shoulder before ducking into a recessed bower.
'All that's back there is a rose covered arbor...what's she up to?' his mind raced, concern flooding him as he wondered if Witch Hagar had, once more, cast some spell upon Allura.
His mind was made up, even if she got mad, he was going to confront her - he refused to allow anything bad to happen to this young woman he loved like a sister.
But as he rushed toward the opening, he was completely caught off guard by what he heard, and he found himself frozen in place.
"Allura," the deeply rich, and familiar, voice cooed. "I was afraid you wouldn't come."
'It can't be…'
"I'm sorry I'm late, Nanny wanted me to have one more fitting for a new gown."
'No way!' Hunk found himself in a state of utter shock. He had to see this with his own eyes! Slowly, he inched forward, stopping when he was able to see the couple, confirming his suspicions.
He grinned, watching as the man in red wrapped his arms around the woman in pink, and kissed her breathless.
Knowing the Princess was safe, Hunk backed away. However, just as the Big Guy was almost out of earshot, he heard his Captain speak.
"I love you, Allura."
"Oh, Keith…I love you, too."
'No one will ever hear about their tryst from me,' Hunk swore his silent vow, joy filling his heart with the knowledge those two had found love.
